Midnimo Organization Condemns the Reported Drone Attack in Dolow, Gedo Region
Bismillah.
Midnimo Organization unequivocally condemns the reported overnight drone attack on the residence of General Mahad Abdirahman Aden, commonly known as General Shub, in Dolow, Gedo Region.
According to initial reports, General Shub and his wife were injured, while other civilians were reportedly killed or wounded. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish all those injured a full and speedy recovery.
This horrific attack is a grave assault on the lives, safety, and dignity of Somali citizens. The use of military force in a politically contested area, particularly when civilians are placed in danger is unacceptable and must be condemned without hesitation.
This incident is especially alarming because the current administration at Villa Somalia continues to exercise power without a constitutional mandate after its four-year term expired without holding any form of election. An administration whose mandate has expired has no legitimate authority to impose political arrangements on the Somali people through military force, intimidation, or violence.
Midnimo Organization demands an independent and impartial investigation to provide the Somali people with a clear, truthful, and complete account of what occurred. We are deeply concerned by allegations that state military power may have been used against Somali citizens because of political disagreements and their opposition to the disputed proxy administration led by Adan Madobe, an administration imposed without the consent of the local population.
If these allegations are confirmed, the attack would constitute a dangerous abuse of state power, a serious violation of citizens’ constitutional rights, and an alarming escalation of political repression. No government has the right to use military force to silence opposition, impose an unwanted administration, or punish a community for defending its political rights.
The statement issued by the current “de facto” administration in Mogadishu, denying its involvement and suggesting that the destruction was caused by explosives stored inside the residence, does not answer the serious questions surrounding the incident. Images reportedly taken at the scene appear to show damage caused by force coming from above. This evidence must be examined by qualified and independent investigators, not dismissed through unsupported public statements or politically convenient explanations.
Midnimo Organization calls for:
- An immediate, independent and transparent investigation into the attack;
- The public release of all available evidence, including relevant operational records and surveillance information;
- Full accountability for every individual, institution, or authority found responsible;
- Urgent medical care and humanitarian support for the injured and affected families;
- Protection for witnesses and members of the local community; and
- An immediate end to the use of military force, intimidation, political coercion, and collective punishment against Somali citizens.
Political disagreements must be resolved through peaceful dialogue, constitutional processes, and respect for the will of the people, not through drones, violence or fear. Somali citizens must never be treated as enemies of the state simply because they oppose a political decision or reject a proxy administration imposed upon them.
The lives of Somali citizens must never become instruments in a struggle for political power. Those entrusted with public authority have a duty to protect the people, not terrorize them. Any use of state institutions or military capabilities against the Somali population is a betrayal of that duty and must result in full legal and political accountability.

We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to justice, national unity, constitutional governance, and the protection of every Somali citizen, regardless of political affiliation, clan identity or regional location.
